History
GrandVision S.A. is an optical retail company which was founded in 1989 by Daniel Abittan and Michael Likierman. They started GrandVision with the creation of a new brand called GrandOptical, a unique and innovative retail concept based on outstanding customer service and a wide variety of products, all with easy customer access.
The early 1990s saw the emergence of new GrandVision brands which offered different optical concepts tailored to specific customer segments whilst always maintaining the same high level of quality and outstanding service.
The first was Générale d’Optique, offering reasonable prices but sold in a high quality service environment. Solaris - a unique high-class sunglasses retail brand - followed, with stores located in the most exclusive fashion high streets. The expansion of GrandVision continued in 1997 with the acquisition of Vision Express one of the UK’s leading networks of opticians with operations in other European countries.
Today, GrandVision operates optical retail networks in
15 countries under various retail formats and brand names.
