GrandVision B.V. is a leading worldwide optical retailer with various retail companies and formats. As of January 2011, GrandVision is present in 40 countries throughout Europe, Latin America, Middle East and India. The company’s headquarters are at Schiphol Airport, the Netherlands.

In addition to its own stores, GrandVision operates master and individual franchises as well as joint ventures in several countries. This allows independent opticians to benefit from the strength of the GrandVision brands.

GrandVision’s annual system wide sales in 2010 reached approximately € 2.7 billion (2009: approximately € 2.5 billion). At the end of 2010, GrandVision operated approximately 4,400 stores (2009: 4,300) including 1,200 franchise and partner stores (2009: 1,300). The decrease in franchise and partner stores was due to the termination of contracts with partners in Spain. The company employed approximately 19,300 people (2009: 18,500).

The 2010 same store sales remained stable (2009: 1.6% decrease). The 2010 operating income amounted to € 260 million (2009: € 254 million).
