Our eyecare and eye health resolutions for 2022
At GrandVision, we work to bring eyecare to more and more people around the world and raise awareness about eye health. We do this through initiatives like educational campaigns, volunteering events, and even offers in our stores and on our retail brand websites.
As 2021 winds down, we would like to propose some eyecare resolutions for 2022. If you’re as passionate about these causes as we are, please join us in making them happen! Here are a few to consider:
- First, take care of your eyes: Take an opportunity to get your eyes checked. Opticians and optometrists can perform an eye examination to check if a vision correction is needed. In some cases they can also perform an examination for several types of eye conditions and diseases, usually taking about 30 minutes to an hour. Consider booking an appointment at a GrandVision retail store near you if you feel your vision isn’t clear enough, you’re experiencing eye problems, or you haven't checked your eyes recently.
- Promote eyecare accessibility: According to the World Health Organization, at least 2.2 billion people have vision impairment or blindness, of which over 1 billion cases could have been prevented or have yet to be addressed. Consider supporting nonprofits like the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, an overarching alliance for the global eye health sector, with more than 150 organizations in over 100 countries working together for a world where everyone has universal access to eye care. And mark your calendars for World Sight Day on Thursday, 13 October, 2022!
- Check out our more sustainable eyewear products: Are you shopping for new glasses, sunglasses or contact lenses? Consider making a switch to eyewear products that are made out of more sustainable materials or sold with less packaging.
At GrandVision, we have been working on making our products more sustainable. For example, at least 64% of our DbyD optical collection and 100% of our DbyD sunglass collection are made of sustainable materials. And if you wear contact lenses, give our iWear Slim product line a try. It uses less plastic and aluminum, and take up less volume. And the iWear Slim box is made using recycled molds from our contact lens production process.
- Give your specs and sunnies a second life: Do you have a pair of glasses or sunglasses gathering dust in your home? Give them a second life! Find a nonprofit organization that accepts pre-loved specs or check with a GrandVision retail store near you to see if they have a recycling program of their own.
If the glasses are not fit for reuse, several of our retail brands do their best to partner with organizations that recycle them, too.
Let’s ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all, together. We hope that you make time to take care of your eyes and to help others gain access to clearer vision in the year to come.
Wishing you a happy and healthy new year from GrandVision!
